2020: Lessons Learned from the Electrical Code Updates Pre- Conference Workshop
Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm EST
$75 for AMI Members and Non-Members

This two-hour session is a follow-up to last year’s workshop introducing the new codes for 2020.  There have been many valuable lessons learned as these updates have been put into practice over the course of the past year. This two-hour session, lead by marina electrical experts throughout the industry, will cover some of the hard lessons learned on installing required upgrades for electrical compliance to the newly-released National Electric Codes.  This session will specifically address ground-fault protective devices, common ground fault tripping causes, safety in the marina, electric shock drowning, and more. The electrical system is critical to your marina’s operations and to a positive on-the-water customer experience. More importantly, a properly working electrical system is important in keeping customers and employees safe. This workshop will give you the knowledge and tools to understand your marina’s electrical system, so when there is a problem, you can identify it and communicate to your customers clearly and confidently.

BIG Infrastructure Grant Pre-Conference Workshop
Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm EST
$75 for AMI Members and Non-Members

Did you know the federal government will give you money to construct facilities--from docks to fuel pumps, restrooms to gazebos--for your visiting boaters? They do this under the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Boating Infrastructure Grant Program or BIG.

Money is available each year and this session will walk you through, step by step, how to apply. Wendy Larimer an 8-year veteran of the national review committee for BIG grants and an applicant several times over, along with Scott Meister BIG Coordinator for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s South Atlantic-Gulf & Mississippi-Basin Regions will explain the process, cover the must have’s and things to avoid, and leave you with all you need to know to submit a successful application.

This session will also provide free access to AMI's Marina Economic Impact Calculator, a tool used in many successful grant applications.

Marina 101: Virtual

Marina 101 is a three-hour marina industry introduction course on Monday, February 1, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm EST.  The course is geared to individuals with little or no marina experience, who are looking to get into the industry by way of an advancement opportunity, career shift, or an interest in purchasing or developing a marina.

The Marina 101 course is comprised of nine individual presentations, created and presented by Carl F. Wolf, CMM CMI and former President of the International Marina Institute. The presentations will give you an inside preview of the various aspects in the operations of a marina. Presentations cover topics from day-to-day and seasonal operations to maintenance, emergency preparedness, long-term planning, financial reports, and the various roles of a marina manager.
