Kirby has been a member of the IMI faculty since 2002.  In early 2006, he rejoined Marinas International as Managing Director of the Management Division, focusing on third party management agreements and acquisitions.

Prior to rejoining M.I., Kirby was a Regional Manager for Flgship Marinas with full accountability for over 4,000 slips at three marinas, $7M in operating budgtes, and over $10M in capital projects  His career includes extensive time in the advertising and marketing arena, as well as promotions and public relations.

Kirby is a past National Marina Day Chairperson, Executive Secretary of Metro Atlanta Trade Association, President of the marina Operators of Lake Lanier, as well as serving as an officer in the Chamber of Commerce's, Rotary, Friends of the Parks, and various other community service organizations.  his service to AMI and IMI included a trip to Auckland, New Zealand as keynote speaker for the Marinas 8 Conference.
