The Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund (SFRBTF) is a vital federal program that supports marinas and boatyards by funding the development and maintenance of boating infrastructure across the United States. Established in 1950, the Trust Fund is financed through excise taxes on fishing equipment, motorboat and small engine fuels, import duties, and interest on the fund . These funds are allocated to state agencies to support projects such as constructing and renovating marinas, boat ramps, and other facilities that enhance public access to waterways . For instance, in 2024, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service awarded over $21 million in Boating Infrastructure Grants to support the construction, renovation, and maintenance of marinas and other boating facilities . By investing in these projects, the SFRBTF not only bolsters the recreational boating industry but also contributes to local economies and promotes environmental stewardship of aquatic resources.
In this webinar, we will discuss the benefits of the SFRBTF and how you can apply to two of its very popular programs, the Clean Vessel Program and the Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG).
