Inlet Harbor Marina, Loggerhead Marinas

Loggerhead Marinas officially acquired Inlet Harbor in 2021 from Southern Marinas. The property features fresh seafood and live music at Off the Hook, excellent inshore and offshore fishing opportunities, and close proximity to the popular Disappearing Island.

Not long after the acquisition, Hurricane Ian swept across Florida with little notice, causing mass destruction and more than $112.9 billion in damage. Inlet Harbor suffered major interior and exterior damage. At the height of the storm, the marina was 2–3 feet underwater. The office flooded, resulting in the loss of files, furniture, and other items. The seawalls were compromised by flooding, with damaged tiebacks leading to sagging and cracks. Outdoor dry racks were torn apart by high winds, and the lifting bays were left with potholes, cracks, and gaps in the concrete. The floating dock by the restaurant separated, creating slanted approaches and bent gangways.

Unfortunately, the damage did not end there. Hurricane Nicole struck soon after Hurricane Ian, again allowing little time for preparation. Inlet Harbor experienced extensive additional destruction while repairs from Ian were still underway. Boats flipped upside down in their racks and required cranes for removal. The seawalls showed increased sagging and bowing, more siding was torn from buildings, and both the office and restaurant flooded again.

Since the storms, the seawall along the north canal has been repaired, two of the three lifting wells have been reconstructed, the office has been gutted and restored twice, and the siding and tops of five of the six buildings have been removed and addressed. Work continues on the seawall on the south dock, which is still bowing and sagging, and the final lifting bay is scheduled for repaving. Projects including rebuilding the floating docks along the north canal and completing repairs to the south dock seawall are priorities for the 2026 fiscal year. While these projects are significant, the team is grateful to have avoided any tragedies this year.

Loggerhead Marinas and its staff take great pride in maintaining the property to the best of their abilities while remaining operational 362 days a year.
